Black Stars Players Motivated Before Mexico Friendly

Black Stars assistant coach Desmond Ofei stated that the players were highly motivated ahead of their friendly match against Mexico. Ghana was set to face the South American nation as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for May 22 in North America. The technical team, led by Carlos Queiroz, had assembled a 23-man squad for the match.

In an interview with Flashscore, Ofei expressed confidence in the group, saying they had chosen talented and ambitious players for the encounter. "For the upcoming game against Mexico, we have selected a very talented and ambitious group of players from our local league, alongside some exciting U23 talents and players who are highly motivated to show their qualities to the nation and to our new head coach, Mr. Carlos Queiroz," Ofei remarked.

Following the clash with Mexico, Ghana was scheduled to complete their preparatory matches with a game against Wales on June 2. The Black Stars, making their fifth appearance at the global tournament, had been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. Ghana was to begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, followed by matches against England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

This friendly match against Mexico served as an important opportunity for the players to demonstrate their skills on an international stage and to build team chemistry ahead of the World Cup.
