Max Dowman Enters Guinness World Records

Max Dowman, the Premier League champion with Arsenal, has entered the Guinness World Records. The player from Chelmsford, born in 2009, has become the youngest player (16 years and 239 days) to win the Premier League, surpassing Phil Foden, who was 17 years and 350 days old when he won with Manchester City in the 2017-18 season. The official Guinness account congratulated Dowman: "Congratulations to Max Dowman, who is the youngest person to win the Premier League."

Legal regulations in the Premier League had prevented him from debuting last season because he had to be 15 years old at the start of the league. Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, noted the difficulty of changing these rules, stating, "The rules on age and restrictions are clear at this moment and it is very difficult to change them."

Once past this obstacle, Arteta introduced Dowman on August 23, 2025, against Leeds, making him the second youngest player (15 years and 235 days) to debut in the Premier League, following his former teammate Ethan Nwaneri (15 years and 181 days), who is now on loan at Olympique de Marseille. Dowman made an immediate impact, drawing a penalty during a 5-0 defeat of Leeds.

Rio Ferdinand referred to him as "the best 15-year-old player in England, probably in Europe, and maybe in the world." At just 14 years, 8 months, and 19 days old, he became the youngest goalscorer in Youth League history. Now, in this current season, he has transitioned to the senior competition, becoming the youngest debutant in the Champions League at the age of 15 years and 308 days, breaking Youssoufa Moukoko's record of 16 years and 18 days.

On May 30, in Budapest, he could take another step forward. In the final against Paris Saint-Germain, he could dethrone Nwankwo Kanu (18 years and 296 days) as the youngest winner of the Champions League. Kanu won with Ajax against Milan in 1995. In the Premier League, Dowman set another record by becoming the youngest scorer (16 years and 73 days) in the history of the English league, breaking James Vaughan's record of 16 years and 139 days, set with Everton in 2005.

This particular goal came at a critical point, aiding Arsenal in maintaining their lead in mid-March. Dowman scored in injury time by sprinting 60 meters after outmaneuvering Vitali Mykolenko and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
