Pep Guardiola confirms he will remain at Manchester City

Pep Guardiola confirmed he is not leaving Manchester City before his contract ends, stating he has one year left on his contract. Guardiola described his decade managing the club as "fucking fun" and suggested that Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea might not be the last time he leads the team out at Wembley.

While Guardiola's contract runs until summer 2027, speculation about his departure has increased, particularly as the season approached its close. The upcoming FA Cup final will mark Manchester City’s 24th appearance at the stadium during Guardiola's tenure, where he aims to secure the 17th major trophy in a decade of management.

In response to a question regarding the significance of his achievements, Guardiola humorously flexed his right biceps and remarked, "Yeah. Of course, 19 titles in 10 years is not bad." He emphasized that his success at the club is evident and made clear that discussions of his exit were unnecessary. "They don’t need to wait when I’m leaving, they know I’ve been fun. I’ve been fucking fun. So, 19 titles, fighting for 20 in 10 years, it’s not bad, honestly,” he added.

When asked if the upcoming visit to Wembley would carry any sadness, considering it could potentially be his last if he were to leave in the close season, Guardiola firmly stated, "No way. No way. I have a one year [left on my] contract." He also expressed disappointment that a tribute hasn’t been established for him at Wembley due to the number of times he has managed there, commenting, "Maybe I go 24 more times."

Guardiola reflected on his fond memories of Wembley, recalling significant moments, including winning the European Cup with Barcelona in 1992 and lifting the Champions League with Barcelona again in 2011 against Manchester United. "It’s been a special place," he noted, looking forward to the FA Cup final and his continued presence at such a revered venue.
