Stanley Nwabali returns to Chippa United

Stanley Nwabali has returned to Chippa United, as confirmed by the South African Premier Soccer League club. The announcement, made in a brief statement on July 12, 2026, marks the end of months of uncertainty surrounding the future of the 30-year-old goalkeeper who had left Chippa United in February. Nwabali's departure followed impressive performances at the Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in which he played a crucial role, helping Nigeria reach the finals in 2023 and contributing to a strong showing in the 2025 tournament.

After his rising reputation at AFCON, where he gained recognition for his penalty-saving exploits, there were widespread expectations that Nwabali would secure a transfer to a larger club. However, as he approached the end of his contract with Chippa United, he requested to leave, which the club facilitated amicably.
