Leinster retained their United Rugby Championship title by decisively defeating the Bulls 36-7 in the final held at Croke Park. This victory not only marked a successful defense of their crown for a second consecutive year but also served as a form of redemption after a disappointing loss to Bordeaux-Begles in the European Champions Cup final last month.
The Irish province dominated the match, leading 22-0 at halftime, thanks to tries from Tommy O'Brien, Rieko Ioane, and Jack Conan. The Bulls struggled during the first half, making unforced errors that resulted in two players being sent to the sin bin for deliberate knock-ons.
In the second half, Leinster added to their score with further tries from Sam Prendergast and Harry Byrne, while Canan Moodie managed the only try for the Bulls. The visitors were thwarted by the officials' decisions, having two additional try attempts disallowed. With this victory, Leinster secured their 10th league title across different formats and became the first team to retain the URC crown since its rebrand in 2021. Meanwhile, the Bulls faced their fourth defeat in five URC finals.
The match began on a rough note for the Bulls as Moodie received a yellow card within the first two minutes for a deliberate knock-on, which disrupted their rhythm. Four minutes later, O'Brien opened the scoring for Leinster by capitalizing on a poor pass from Bulls’ Handre Pollard, running 30 meters to score under the posts.
Ioane quickly followed suit, scoring Leinster's second try after a well-coordinated attack. The Bulls' attempts to stabilize the game were hindered by further disciplinary issues, prompting yet another sin binning as Willie le Roux was sent off for a similar infraction. This allowed Conan to score from close range, further extending Leinster's lead.
Prendergast added to Leinster's score with a penalty kick after the Bulls failed to release in the tackle. The second half saw Prendergast quickly scoring once more, pushing the score to 29-0. The Bulls had a chance to score through Harold Vorster, but the try was disallowed after consultation with the TMO. The visitors managed to cross Leinster's line with a try from Moodie, converting it successfully, but their hopes were dashed with another disallowed score due to a forward pass. Byrne capped the match with a final try, rounding off an impressive display for Leinster, securing a comprehensive victory.
