Eli White's Catch Saves Day for Braves Against Dodgers

Eli White made a game-saving catch that contributed to the Atlanta Braves' 7-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium. In a pivotal moment during the sixth inning with bases loaded and two outs, White robbed Max Muncy by leaping to catch a fastball from Robert Suarez that was heading toward the right-field wall.

After making the impressive catch, White collided hard with the wall, slamming face-first into the blue outfield padding. His teammate, Braves center fielder Michael Harris II, witnessed the dramatic moment and rushed to check on White after seeing him hit the wall. "I was screaming," Harris said. "I ran over to check on him because I saw how he hit the wall."

Despite the impact, White managed to exit the field without assistance but showed signs of concern as he remained down for a moment on the ground. He continued to play for one more inning before being removed from the game and placed on concussion protocol as a precaution. Braves manager Walt Weiss reported that White was doing somewhat better afterward and was walking through the clubhouse, preparing to take the team’s charter flight back to Atlanta.

Although physically shaken, White’s dedication did not go unnoticed. Pitcher Bryce Elder praised his effort, particularly as he dealt with a challenging sixth inning that began with him having already retired 14 consecutive batters before issuing three walks. Elder acknowledged the intensity of the situation when he heard the crowd's reaction to White's catch. "I just heard everybody yelling. Then I heard him hit the wall. So, I knew he hit the wall hard. I didn't know if he robbed it or what. Then I went and watched the replay and it was special. To see him sacrifice himself like that means a lot," Elder reflected after the game.
