Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka expressed confidence as he prepares for the 2026 season. Appearing on the show "Up & Adams," Egbuka shared his enthusiasm for adapting to offensive coordinator Zac Robinson’s system, emphasizing one area he hopes to see more involvement: rushing plays.

"Definitely feel comfortable with the ball in my hands," Egbuka stated during the interview, indicating a desire for increased opportunities to run the football and contribute to the ground game. While Egbuka gained recognition at Ohio State for his polished route running and consistency as a receiver, he was also utilized in various rushing situations, showcasing his vision and explosiveness.

During his college career, Egbuka recorded 25 rushing attempts for a total of 145 yards and two touchdowns, averaging nearly 5.8 yards per carry. With Robinson at the helm, there is optimism that Egbuka will get more chances to showcase his rushing ability.

Robinson’s offensive philosophy, rooted in the Sean McVay coaching tree, emphasizes motion-heavy schemes, creative play calling, and positional versatility. NFL teams continually seek ways to get the ball into the hands of dynamic playmakers, and Egbuka’s capability after the catch positions him well for roles like jet sweeps and backfield packages.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing approximately 205 pounds, Egbuka possesses the physical attributes to handle rushing attempts effectively. His skill set goes beyond that of a traditional slot receiver who relies solely on speed; he consistently displayed balance, physicality, and strong control during his time at Ohio State.

The Buccaneers could greatly benefit from integrating a motion-oriented element to their offense. While established receivers like Chris Godwin Jr. and Jalen McMillan excel in traditional roles, Egbuka’s involvement could introduce a new layer of complexity and versatility to their gameplay.
