Roma faces dilemma over Matias Soule amid Dortmund interest

AS Roma is under increasing pressure to sell Matias Soulé before June 30, with Borussia Dortmund emerging as the most serious contender for the Argentine forward. The Giallorossi are trying to generate €50 million in capital gains to comply with their UEFA settlement agreement obligations. According to Sky Sport, Roma values Soulé at approximately €30 million, a sum that would significantly contribute toward that target and help the club avoid new sanctions as they prepare for their first return to the Champions League in seven years.

Dortmund is leading the chase for Soulé as they seek to replace Julian Brandt, who is set to leave on a free transfer this summer. Soulé's profile, having scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 42 appearances last season despite dealing with a groin issue in the latter half of the campaign, aligns well with what Dortmund is looking for in attack.

For Roma, the rationale for a sale is apparent. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini plans to retain Paulo Dybala and bring in at least two new wide forwards, positioning Soulé as surplus to requirements. At a wage of €2 million net per season, his earnings do not pose a significant obstacle. However, with the deadline approaching, the urgency to finalize a deal is palpable.
