Rohit Yadav leads India to series victory with four wickets

India clinched a 1-0 series victory over Sri Lanka Under-19 with a comprehensive 211-run win in the second Youth Test match at the R Premadasa Stadium. The match ended on July 23, 2026, facilitated by a standout performance from bowler Rohit Yadav, who took four wickets, dismantling Sri Lanka's batting resilience.

The game began with India setting a massive target of 472 runs after posting 411 in their first innings. Notable contributions came from M Chauhan (150), Ojha (111), and Y Chauhan (78). In response, Sri Lanka managed to score 148 in their first innings, with Yadav, Venkata, Raghavendra, and Hemchudeshan taking two wickets each.

In the second innings, despite a solid effort from Sri Lanka's lower order, with Vimath Dinsara and Kavija Gamage forming a stubborn fifth-wicket partnership, Yadav's four-wicket haul proved decisive. Dinsara, who scored 64 runs, was dismissed by Yadav in a critical breakthrough after the pair extended their partnership to 40 runs from a taxing 26.3 overs.

Yadav's contributions included dismissing Gamage, who resisted for 152 balls, scoring 36 runs. The remaining Sri Lankan batsmen fell under the pressure of India's bowling attack, with Yadav taking three of the last five wickets to fall. Sethmika Seneviratne contributed with a quick innings, scoring 42 runs off 49 balls, but his efforts were in vain as Sri Lanka was bowled out for 260, giving India a solid victory.
