Rashid shines as MI London defeats Super Giants

Rashid Khan took 5-17 as MI London defeated Manchester Super Giants by 45 runs in The Hundred on 2 August 2026. Khan's outstanding performance marked the fifth-best bowling figures in the history of the men's competition, as the Super Giants struggled to chase down the challenging target of 184 runs.

MI London, batting first, posted a score of 183-6 in their allotted 100 balls, thanks in large part to Will Jacks and Nicholas Pooran. Jacks scored 62 runs off 31 balls, while Pooran contributed 54 runs from 28 deliveries, helping to set up a formidable total at The Oval. Jacks began the innings with explosive flair, hitting three fours and six sixes while forming a solid 71-run partnership for the first wicket with James Vince, who made 29 runs. The innings concluded with MI losing three wickets in the last eight balls, with Pooran falling to Josh Tongue, who finished with figures of 2-13.

In response, the Super Giants got off to a promising start with captain Aiden Markram scoring 50 off 26 balls. However, Khan quickly changed the momentum of the game by breaking the opening partnership of 59 runs. He dismissed Tim Seifert for 17 runs and then had Jos Buttler caught for just 2 runs. Markram eventually fell to Nathan Sowter, caught at mid-wicket.

Khan continued his impressive spell, dismantling the Super Giants’ middle order by taking out Heinrich Klaasen, Tom Moores, and Liam Dawson. As wickets continued to fall, the Super Giants made a desperate attempt to reach their target but ultimately collapsed, being bowled out for 138 runs with five balls remaining.

The victory elevated MI London to second place in the standings, surpassing Welsh Fire based on net run-rate. In contrast, the Super Giants dropped to fifth place, suffering their third consecutive defeat in the tournament.
