Final Rankings for High School Girls Flag Football - May 18

The Final Rivals High School Girls Flag Football Top 25 Rankings were released on May 18. The national high school girls flag football program has experienced major growth, with participation increasing to nearly 69,000 in the 2024-25 school year, according to NFHS Network data. This sport is emerging as an official varsity championship in various states, with over a dozen states having already sanctioned the sport.
The rankings followed the conclusion of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state finals held in Tampa, Florida. The top five teams saw minor adjustments with Robinson elevating to the No. 1 spot after winning the Class 2A state championship against Miami Northwestern, 42-34, marking their 10th consecutive title.
The Robinson Knights from Tampa, Florida, hold the record for the most high school girls flag football championships in the state, finishing the season with a 21-1 record under head coach Josh Saunders. The team showcased excellent form throughout the postseason, suggesting they will likely begin the 2027 season as the frontrunners.
The second-ranked JSerra Catholic Lions from California finished their season undefeated at 28-0, winning the CIF Southern Section Division I championship by defeating Orange Lutheran, 25-20. Quarterbacking this young team were freshman Kate Meier and sophomore Ava Van Heerde, who collectively threw for substantial yardage and touchdowns.
The Orange Lutheran Lancers, holding the third position with a record of 24-3, finished just shy of the California championship against JSerra Catholic. Notably, junior quarterback Makena Cook received a Division I, Power 4 offer from Nebraska this week, leading the team with impressive statistics of 7,083 yards and 112 touchdowns.
Ranked fourth is the Phenix City Central Red Devils from Alabama (20-0), who dominated the Class 6A/7A championship with an outstanding season. Senior quarterback Mariah Harrison led the team with 3,941 yards and 80 touchdowns.
Rounding out the top five is the Lennard Longhorns (14-7) from Florida. Despite losses earlier in the season, the team excelled in the playoffs to win the state championship, defeating Park Vista in a tightly contested 12-6 game.
