Juventus flop Openda targeted by Lyon after RC Lens and Coventry City

Lois Openda, who struggled at Juventus, has attracted interest from Olympique Lyonnais as they compete with RC Lens and Coventry City for the striker. The Belgium international was deemed a disappointment after he joined the Bianconeri on loan from RB Leipzig, with an obligation to buy imposed for a total fee of €46 million at the end of the previous season.

Openda failed to impress under coach Luciano Spalletti, featuring sparingly towards the end of the season and making only one brief substitute appearance in the final weeks of the campaign. Overall, he made 34 competitive appearances for Juventus, scoring merely two goals, and was named in the starting lineup for only nine of those matches. With the summer transfer window approaching, an exit seems inevitable, as both Coventry City and his former team RC Lens are interested in a move to take him off Juventus's hands.

Recent reports indicate that Olympique Lyonnais has made a formal proposal, which would cover Openda’s entire salary, a feature that distinguishes them from RC Lens. Juventus appears aware that a loan with an option to buy might be the most pragmatic solution for restoring Openda’s market value and rehabilitating his profile after a challenging period in Turin.
