Former Pirates Striker Mabasa Unveiled By New Club

Former Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa was unveiled by his new club, Moroccan champions Maghreb of Fez, on August 7, 2026. Mabasa, 29, had been linked with several clubs after parting ways with Pirates at the end of the previous season, but Mas Fes secured his services.

Having been long-term admirers of the South African forward, he signed a three-year deal with the Botola Pro side, who officially introduced him to fans on Friday evening.

Mabasa had attracted interest from multiple teams, including Pyramids, Wydad AC, Raja CA, and Kaizer Chiefs in recent weeks. Despite the competition, Mabasa, nicknamed 'Sniper,' will now continue his career in Fes as part of the club's efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of the CAF Champions League.

Mabasa left Pirates just eight goals shy of their all-time leading scorer, Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi. During his time at Pirates, he became a fan favorite, helping the team to six trophies and winning one Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award. Across his career, he scored 74 goals and provided 11 assists in 249 matches for various clubs, including Bloemfontein Celtic, Sekhukhune United, Moroka Swallows, and Stellenbosch FC.
