Latest MLB Trade Rumors Ahead of Deadline

As August began, the MLB Trade Deadline approached, set for Monday, 6 p.m. ET. Amid rumblings in the trade market, several key players—such as Tarik Skubal, Mason Miller, and prospects from the Angels and Orioles—were under scrutiny.

The trade market for Skubal was supposed to become more active after the Detroit Tigers squandered a 7-0 lead against the Orioles, marking their fourth loss in five games. The Tigers’ decision to scratch fellow trade candidate Casey Mize from his Friday start was perceived as a sign of their intent to sell. Despite this, the Tigers appeared unwilling to rush a deal for their ace. Mason Miller from the San Diego Padres gained attention in the trade sphere as the team struggled with a dismal record of 50-53. Although there was speculation that the Padres could trade Miller to address their roster needs, recent performance improvements led them to reconsider their position. ESPN sources indicated that it would be surprising if Miller were traded, especially considering his high asking price, which deterred other teams from pursuing him.

Other developments included the Cincinnati Reds monitoring Hunter Greene’s trade potential, with a 50-50 chance of a trade. Three-time batting champion Luis Arraez also captured interest, yet the trade market for him was slow. The New York Yankees remained active on the market, searching for right-handed catchers and relievers, while the Minnesota Twins reinforced their team with recent trades and continued to look for additions.
