Noah Fant Compares Chris Olave to Ja'Marr Chase

Noah Fant, the tight end for the New Orleans Saints, made a bold comparison between fellow wide receiver Chris Olave and Ja'Marr Chase, stating that Olave deserves to be regarded with the same level of talent. Fant reflected on his experience playing alongside some of the NFL's top receivers, including spending the previous season with Chase in Cincinnati, who is known for having a large target share. After observing Olave during his first training camp in New Orleans, Fant expressed confidence in Olave's abilities.
"Ja’Marr got a lot of targets a game, as he should have," Fant said to reporters on Sunday, acknowledging Chase's exceptional skills as a "transcending wide receiver." He continued, "But I think Chris — I mean, I think he’s just as much up there. You know what I’m saying? Like, he’s a great player."
Having played with elite receivers like DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Courtland Sutton in the past, Fant's perspective carries significant weight. Olave was recently awarded a four-year contract extension worth up to $132 million, solidifying his role as a primary target in the Saints' offense. Fant anticipated that the football would often head in Olave's direction, stating, "There’s guys like Chris Olave, right? He’s going to have the ball a lot. He’s a really good player, and as he should."
To enhance Olave's experience, the Saints have bolstered their offensive lineup, which now includes Fant along with a strong group of running backs, tight ends, and receivers. Fant acknowledged the need for all players to be ready to perform, even as the offense focuses on its standout stars. "We know we have a lot of talent," he said. "We know we have a lot of mouths to feed, but we’re just going to do our job every play. And if we’re doing that, we’re going to be in a good spot at the end of the year."
