Cole Palmer stars in Nike's World Cup advert despite England exclusion

Cole Palmer appeared in Nike's new star-studded World Cup advert titled "rip the script," even though he was left out of Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the tournament. The short film featured numerous global celebrities, including Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James, Kim Kardashian, and Travis Scott, as well as football stars such as Bruno Fernandes, Virgil van Dijk, Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Haaland, who shared a humorous moment with actor Channing Tatum.
In an ironic twist for Nike, the Chelsea player represented England in the advert despite his omission from the national team. In the video, Palmer is seen with rapper Central Cee in a cold, icy landscape, symbolizing his "cold" celebration, before leading the other players back to the original TV set.
The 24-year-old is not the only notable figure outside of the England squad, joining Harry Maguire and Phil Foden among those omitted. This week, Palmer was spotted partying at Wayne Lineker's Ocean Beach Club in Ibiza, a renowned hotspot for Premier League footballers, after his England selection snub. He wore the same outfit as during his previous visit last July, consisting of a chain, plain white T-shirt, camouflage shorts, and trainers. While relaxing on a bright yellow sofa beside Gary Lineker's brother, the pair appeared at ease, with Grey Goose vodka cushions surrounding them and a large vodka bottle on the table.
The Nike advertisement kicks off with Kylian Mbappe, the France and Real Madrid star, rejecting the producer's script. The players from various top football nations eventually choose to disregard the guidelines and create a spontaneous video against vibrant backdrops.
Including Cole Palmer as the sole English representative in the advertisement, which was released on Thursday, the six-minute film also showcased a comedic moment featuring Erling Haaland and Channing Tatum. Additional cameos included Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Cantona, and Jason Sudeikis reprising his Ted Lasso role from the Apple TV hit.
The World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, starts next Thursday. The tournament's opening match features Mexico facing South Africa and runs until July 19.
