Newsroom
The President Federation Cup saw the El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri set to face off against Ikorodu City in the men’s final. El-Kanemi, a three-time champion, reached this stage following a decisive 3-1 victory over Wikki Tourists, marking their second appearance in the final in two years. In contrast, Ikorodu City advanced to the final after a tense match against Nasarawa United, which ended in a 1-1 draw and was resolved in penalties, with Ikorodu winning 4-2.
The venue for the final is Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, which has gained a reputation for being challenging, especially after witnessing Nasarawa United's 2-4 defeat against the same penalty shoot-out format five years ago against Bayelsa United after a 2-2 draw.
The women’s competition progressed to the quarter-finals, scheduled for Thursday. The matches include Sunshine Queens of Akure taking on Confluence Queens of Lokoja at 1pm, followed by a clash between Rivers Angels and FC Robo Queens at 4pm, both at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. In addition, Heartland Queens of Owerri face Ibom Angels from Uyo in Aba, while Nasarawa Amazons go head-to-head with the better-performing Edo Queens in Anyigba.
