Chelsea Women to Host All WSL Matches at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea Women have made a significant announcement, revealing that all 13 of their home Women’s Super League (WSL) fixtures will be held at Stamford Bridge starting next season. This decision marks a pivotal moment for the club as they become the fourth top-flight team to relocate their women’s squad to their primary stadium, aiming to boost visibility and expand their supporter base.

The move comes after extensive consultations with players, partners, and fan advisory groups, reflecting a collective desire to elevate the women’s game. Chelsea Women have been based at Kingsmeadow for nearly a decade, but the transition to the 40,000-capacity Stamford Bridge will place the team at the heart of west London, offering a larger platform for their matches.

In an open letter to fans, the players expressed their excitement, stating, "This moment is not just for us. It’s for every player to have worn the Chelsea badge. It’s for every person who has pushed the women’s game forward. It’s for every supporter who has been with us on our incredible journey." This sentiment underscores the importance of this transition not only for the current squad but for the legacy of women’s football at Chelsea.

Chelsea Women’s ambition remains steadfast as they aim to win more trophies and create history. The club has also launched a new brand identity, “Never Done,” which is designed to enhance the culture surrounding the team, drive attendance, and increase revenue. Initiatives such as “Bottomless at the Bridge,” a popular hospitality brunch, are part of their strategy to engage fans and build a vibrant matchday atmosphere.

This season, Chelsea has already hosted four WSL games at Stamford Bridge, with a notable attendance of 30,545 during their match against Arsenal in January. The club’s record attendance at the stadium stands at 34,302, showcasing the potential for growth in fan engagement. Stamford Bridge has also served as the venue for Chelsea’s home Champions League matches since September, further solidifying its status as a key location for the club.
