Carson Hocevar Makes Met Gala Debut After NASCAR Win

Carson Hocevar, the latest winner in NASCAR, made headlines with his appearance at the 2026 Met Gala. Traditionally known for its high-profile attendees from the fashion and entertainment worlds, the inclusion of Hocevar added a fresh twist to the event, especially as he followed the footsteps of seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, a familiar figure at the gala.

Recently, Hocevar had been busy on the racetrack. He became the 208th different driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway, celebrating with an unforgettable burnout, where he hung out of his car while driving along the frontstretch. Just a week later, at the Texas Truck race, the 23-year-old secured another victory and achieved pole position for the Cup race, marking Spire Motorsports' first front-row lockout in Cup history.

Besides racing, Hocevar also found time to collaborate with popular YouTuber WhistlinDiesel, where he participated in a race of junk cars on a backyard dirt track, and served as a pit reporter for FloRacing during a High Limit Racing event.

At the Met Gala, Hocevar showcased his personality, appearing on the official E! stream from the red carpet. He expressed his enthusiasm by stating, "I'm confident racing and putting a race suit on, but when I put this suit on, it's hard for me to get this confident. This is just so new to me, but I'm enjoying every experience."

He also mentioned a sentimental detail about his attire, saying, "I get to wear this watch. It was my dad's first watch he ever gave me, so I wanted to wear that tonight." He stated that his mother was extremely proud, remarking that she may be prouder of his attendance at the Met Gala than his Talladega win. Hocevar admitted to hoping to meet singer Sabrina Carpenter during the event.

This year's Met Gala marked a significant milestone, as Hocevar became the first NASCAR driver to attend since Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon, who last graced the event in 2010. In contrast, Hamilton has frequently attended, even serving as the Met Gala co-chair in 2025. With both drivers in attendance, it remained a possibility for them to cross paths on the red carpet.
