Aston Villa clinched a resounding 4-3 victory over Sunderland at Villa Park in Sunday's Premier League showdown.

Aston Villa took the lead again, when Ollie Watkins scored one more time. This occasion he scored, with an assist by Ian Maatsen, in the 36th minute.

The goal that reduced the score to 3-2 came, when Trai Hume scored for Sunderland.

But Sunderland still had time to score an equaliser. Wilson Isidor scored with three minutes left to play, with an assist by Enzo Le Fée.

Aston Villa took the lead just three minutes later as Tammy Abraham scored, with an assist by Lucas Digne.

Aston Villa remains in fourth place and Sunderland is in 11th.

Aston Villa chocked Sunderland when Ollie Watkins netted in the second minute on a pass from John McGinn.

Sunderland equalised to 1-1 early in the match when Chris Rigg made his mark as he found the net, with an assist by Noah Sadiki, in the 9th minute.

Aston Villa play Fulham on 25 April, Tottenham Hotspur on 3 May and Burnley (away) on 10 May. Sunderland's next opponents are Nottingham Forest on 24 April, Wolverhampton Wanderers on 2 May and Manchester United (home) on 9 May.

"We played a fantastic match but the two goals in one minute, we lost our minds a little bit," Emery told Sky Sports after the game. "But how we reacted at 3-3 and scored the fourth goal was fantastic.
