Ederson waits for Manchester United's decision on €45m deal

Reports have emerged that Ederson is awaiting a final decision from Manchester United regarding his potential transfer from Atalanta. On June 2, the clubs had reached an agreement for €40.5 million plus an additional €4.5 million in add-ons. However, the deal has not yet been finalized, as Ederson was in the United States with the Brazilian national team for the 2026 World Cup, and he could only undergo preliminary medical tests there.

Manchester United requested further medical examinations to address a specific issue. After 48 hours of evaluation, multiple sources reported that Manchester United decided to withdraw from the transfer. Prominent media outlets including Sky Sport Italia, Fabrizio Romano, and Sportitalia conveyed that the club informed Atalanta of their intention not to proceed with the deal.

However, contradictorily, outlets such as BBC Sport and Sky Sports Deutschland indicated that a final decision had yet to be made. The Italian press seemed convinced that Ederson did not have any significant injury concerns, suggesting that Manchester United might have simply changed their stance on the transfer over the past five weeks.

It remains possible that Manchester United is looking to renegotiate the terms of the transfer with Atalanta, although it is unclear if Atalanta is open to such discussions.
