Layne Riggs dominates IRP to win fifth NASCAR Truck race

Layne Riggs recorded his fifth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory of the 2026 season at the Indianapolis Race Park (IRP) on July 24, 2026. The Front Row Motorsports driver demonstrated remarkable control during the event, leading 198 of 200 laps from the pole position.

Riggs outperformed Connor Mosack, who achieved a career-best finish in second place. This victory marked Riggs' second consecutive win at IRP, as he previously led 160 laps to claim victory at the same venue the prior year.

"They are just statement wins," Riggs expressed following his assertive performance. "I mean, man, what a truck. I was on cruise control for so much of the race. The #7 [Mosack] kept me honest there. The last 15 laps of the race, with the traffic, I was running as hard as I could and couldn’t get away from him. I knew we had a pretty good gap. Great job to my spotter, Josh. He did a great job today navigating me through traffic. Had that one mishap on the restart, just spun my tires really, really bad. When you get these tires spinning, they are so hard to recover, so thank you to the guys behind me for not turning me around. I know that could have easily happened. I’m not sure where Chandler finishes, but he had a good run as well."

Ty Majeski finished third, followed by Chandler Smith in fourth and Nick Sanchez in fifth. The rest of the top ten included Stewart Friesen, Kaden Honeycutt, Gavan Boschele, Tyler Ankrum, and Michael Christopher Jr.

The race commenced with a caution-free opening stage, where Riggs led without contest and lapped his competitors extensively, including the 15th place by the stage's conclusion. Tyler Eckes faced mechanical difficulties during this stage with an alternator issue, returning to the race well behind. Riggs maintained his dominance, whereas his teammate Smith was engaged in a battle for the second position against Mosack. Riggs completed the stages without losing his lead, establishing his prowess early in the race.

The only natural caution resulted with 63 laps remaining when Daniel Hemric collided with another truck and spun, which also damaged Landen Lewis' vehicle. In the aftermath of the cleanup, Honeycutt elected to pit for fresh tires, creating a strategic gamble. Mosack managed to close the gap to within two seconds in the traffic but ultimately failed to present a serious challenge to Riggs, who cruised to a definitive victory.
