Sikandar Raza feels he is letting his team down

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza expressed disappointment over his batting performance after a 90-run loss to India in the second T20I in Harare on July 25, 2026. Raza highlighted that he needed to contribute more to his team's success, referencing his scores of 4 and 0 in the ongoing series, which has seen India secure a 2-0 lead with one match remaining.

In the match, Zimbabwe collapsed to 129 while chasing a target of 220 runs. Raza acknowledged that his team could have performed better, mentioning the challenges of inexperience and poor shot selection contributing to their downfall. "Unfortunately, I think it all comes down to sometimes inexperience, [and] sometimes the shot selection, where we're letting ourselves down," Raza noted.

With three consecutive single-digit scores in T20 format, including a dismissal against Bangladesh prior to facing India, Raza's poor form has mirrored Zimbabwe's struggles at the crease. The team has managed to score a mere 143 and 126 in their previous two T20Is, alongside their dismal 129 runs against India.

Raza took full accountability for his performance, stating, "But the onus is on me to try and get it right because my team needs my runs and bowling, and unfortunately it hasn't been the case in the past two T20 games." The captain is determined to turn his form around to positively impact the team.

Looking ahead, Raza is hopeful for a change in fortunes as Zimbabwe prepares to face India in the third T20I scheduled for Sunday, aiming to avoid a 3-0 clean sweep against them.
