Former Remo Stars Captain Junior Nduka Discusses Move to India

Junior Nduka, the former captain of Remo Stars and a defender of the Home-based Super Eagles, explained the reasons behind his recent move to Sporting Club Delhi in India after a stint in the Iraqi League. Nduka, who rose through the Remo Stars youth system and led the club to its first NPFL title, finalized his decision on this transfer after a season in Iraq.

In an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES, Nduka shared his thoughts on the decision-making process that led him to India. He emphasized the importance of what the club offered, stating, "I will say what went through my mind was what the club is willing to offer because, aside from passion, we aren’t just playing for passion; we’re playing for money." He described SC Delhi as a good club in a competitive league, countering the perception that countries outside of traditionally recognized footballing nations lack quality.

Transitioning from Remo Stars to Iraq and now to India, Nduka reflected on the challenges and experiences that have shaped his career. He highlighted the differences between the leagues, noting that "it’s a different ballgame in the Nigerian Premier Football League and the Iraqi Stars League," and he mentioned that his prior experiences helped him adapt to these new environments. Nduka acknowledged that moving to SC Delhi would pose its own set of challenges, such as adjusting to new teammates, playing conditions, and tactical approaches.

Nduka also spoke about the critical lesson he learned while in Iraq: adaptation. He recognized that playing in various environments requires quick adjustments to local football styles and cultural behaviors.
