Ibrahimovic Claims Superiority Over Haaland
Newsroom
Former AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimović disclosed that he was a more versatile and complete striker than Erling Haaland, whose game was largely one-dimensional. Ibrahimović noted that Haaland was deadly and intelligent in the box, doing exactly what was required to score without wasting energy. In contrast, Ibrahimović described himself as much more versatile, enjoying playing with the ball at his feet.
"I’m not sure about that. He needs to do a lot more to reach the 'freak of nature,'" Ibrahimović told Fox Sports. "He scores goals and is a 'killer' in the box, but I was more versatile. I enjoyed playing with the ball. He is a 'killer' in the box, is intelligent and does what he needs to do, but he doesn’t do more than what he can do. He doesn’t waste energy on it.
“I saw an interview with him, where he said that his dream is to touch the ball twice and score two goals. Rather, my dream was to touch the ball twice and score three goals."
Zlatan Ibrahimović played two highly successful stints at AC Milan, scoring a total of 93 goals in 163 appearances. He won the Serie A title (Scudetto) in both his first spell (2010–11) and his second spell (2021–22), serving as a talismanic striker and veteran leader who guided the club back to prominence.
