Mobbie Set to Return To Former Club
Newsroom
Mobbie, the 31-year-old defender, is set to return to Sekhukhune United ahead of the 2026/27 season after leaving Siwelele. He was part of Siwelele's setup, which took over the status of SuperSport United. Despite suffering an injury during the campaign, Mobbie became a crucial part of the team's defense, making 18 league appearances in both central defender and right back roles.
However, he faced a technical error that caused him to miss the deadline to activate his contract option with the team. Subsequently, Sekhukhune acted swiftly to secure Mobbie as a free agent for the upcoming season.
Mobbie is familiar with the Sekhukhune setup, having spent three seasons on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, where he was a regular player and participated in the Bafana Bafana national team under coach Hugo Broos. His return is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the club's defense, particularly after they conceded 27 league goals across 30 games last season.
In addition to Mobbie's return, Sekhukhune United is in advanced discussions to appoint Cedric Kaze as their new head coach, succeeding Eric Tinkler to prepare for the upcoming season.
