Andre Ayew, Kamal Sowah and Denis Odoi relegated with NAC Breda

Ghana internationals Andre Ayew, Kamal Sowah, and Denis Odoi officially faced relegation from the Eredivisie with NAC Breda after a disappointing 2025-26 campaign. Breda's relegation was confirmed when FC Volendam, who finished in 16th place, secured a 1-1 draw against Excelsior Rotterdam in the penultimate match of the season. This result allowed Volendam to accumulate 32 points, leaving NAC Breda at a deficit of 25 points with only two matches left to play.

Breda's match against SC Heerenveen was abandoned due to crowd disturbances involving fireworks. However, other results secured the club's drop to the Eerste Divisie. Even if Breda managed to secure victories in their remaining matches, it would not have been sufficient to avoid relegation.

Ayew joined NAC Breda as a free agent in January with the goal of aiding the club's survival in the top flight, yet the former Black Stars captain could only score once in 16 league appearances during a challenging second half of the season. Sowah and Odoi were also integral members of the Breda squad, which struggled significantly throughout the season, resulting in an immediate relegation back to the second tier of Dutch football.
