Richard Carapaz wins Tour de France super combativity award

Richard Carapaz from EF Education-EasyPost was awarded the Tour de France super combativity award following a remarkable final week filled with aggressive attacks. This accomplishment marked the second time in his career that he received this honor, as he also won it in 2024. Carapaz's impressive performance during the last three mountain stages included two stage victories and the King of the Mountains polka-dot jersey.

EF Education-EasyPost has made history by winning the super combativity award three times consecutively, following Irish cyclist Ben Healy’s win in the previous Tour. Carapaz’s thrilling style of riding significantly contributed to the excitement of key stages, particularly those at Orcières-Merlette and the challenging Alpe d'Huez doubleheader.

In the public voting segment for the award, Carapaz did not secure the top spot, which was achieved by green jersey holder Mads Pedersen from Lidl-Trek. Pedersen received over 4,000 votes, while Baptiste Veistroffer from Lotto-Intermarché ranked second. Carapaz came in third with approximately 3,100 votes. Alongside these contenders, eight additional riders were shortlisted for the combativity prize: Tobias Halland Johannessen (Uno-X Mobility), Jordan Jegat (TotalEnergies), Quinn Simmons (Lidl-Trek), Alex Baudin (EF Education-EasyPost), Egan Bernal (Netcompany Ineos), Valentin Paret-Peintre (Soudal-QuickStep), Mauro Schmid (Jayco AlUla), and Pablo Castrillo (Movistar).

Carapaz's award will be presented twice on the podium at the finish of the 21st stage in Paris, where he is expected to finish eighth overall in the General Classification (GC). His recognition as the most combative rider alongside the numerical accolades from both the public and jury votes underline his resilience and grit throughout the Tour.
