The Nigeria U17 women’s national football team, known as the Flamingos, progressed to the third and final round of the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after a dominant two-legged performance against Guinea. They kicked off the qualifying campaign with a resounding 5–0 win in the first leg held in Abidjan. The team showed remarkable form, finishing the second leg with an impressive 6–0 victory in Ikenne, bringing their aggregate score to an emphatic 11–0.
The Flamingos demonstrated their intent early in the home leg, with Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scoring the opening goal in the 9th minute, capitalizing on a well-placed cross from Queen Joseph. Captain Harmony Chidi quickly doubled the lead with a remarkable long-range effort. Nigeria's dominance continued as Queen Joseph netted another goal in the 23rd minute, enhancing the lead even further. Adegbuyi, rising to meet a cross, scored her second goal in the 32nd minute to showcase the team's aerial prowess.
Chidi added her second to the tally just two minutes later after a coordinated team effort, as the Flamingos controlled the match decisively. The substitute, Precious Oscar, capped the scoring in the 70th minute, finalizing the day’s score at 6–0.
For their efforts, Kunle Soname, the proprietor of Remo Stars Football Club and Beyond Limits Football Club, had previously promised a financial reward of N750,000 for each goal scored. Following the remarkable display, he honored his commitment by awarding the team a total of N4.5 million. The Flamingos now look forward to facing Benin Republic in the final qualifying round.
