In a stunning display of talent and determination, 19-year-old Paul Seixas of Decathlon-CMA CGM has made history by winning La Flèche Wallonne, becoming the youngest victor of this prestigious Ardennes Classic. From the outset, Seixas demonstrated his intent, leading the charge up the steep slopes of the Mur de Huy. He quickly established a strong position alongside fellow competitor Ben Tulett from Visma-Lease a Bike. As the race approached its climax, Seixas made his decisive move with just 200 meters remaining, leaving Tulett behind with a powerful surge that none of the other contenders could match.

The final moments of the race saw Swiss champion Mauro Schmid from Jayco-AlUla narrowly edging out Tulett to secure second place, finishing just three seconds behind Seixas. Benoît Cosnefroy from UAE Team Emirates-XRG rounded out the podium in fourth place, following closely behind the leading trio.

"I want to thank all my teammates. They gave it their all, 200%, and rode the whole time. Sometimes I had to fend for myself a bit, but they gave it their all," Seixas expressed after his victory. His humility and gratitude towards his team highlighted the collaborative effort that contributed to his success.

Reflecting on his journey, Seixas remarked, "This is truly unbelievable. Last year, I was still watching the TV broadcast of this race. Now I am here, and I've won it. But as I said, this is a victory for the team."

The 90th edition of La Flèche Wallonne covered a challenging 200 kilometers, featuring nearly 3,000 meters of climbing. The race included three ascents of the Côte d'Ereffe, Côte de Cherave, and the final grueling climb of the Mur de Huy, known for its steep gradients and demanding nature.

As the race unfolded, early attacks set the tone, with a breakaway group forming quickly. Among the riders in the break were Andreas Leknessund from Uno-X Mobility, Sjoerd Bax from Pinarello-Q36.5, and several others, but none could contend with Seixas's explosive finish.
