Dodgers acquire flamethrowing RHP Halvorsen from Rockies

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired right-hander Seth Halvorsen from the Colorado Rockies on Monday afternoon in exchange for outfielder Landyn Vidourek, who is rated as the Dodgers' No. 25 prospect, and right-handed pitcher Nick Frasso.

Seth Halvorsen, 26, had been on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation since July 4. He began a rehabilitation stint with Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, where he tossed a scoreless inning for the Isotopes. Widely regarded as one of Major League Baseball’s hardest throwers, Halvorsen has faced challenges with control throughout his career, having issued 38 walks in 71 innings, equating to 4.8 walks per nine innings, over parts of three seasons. This season, he shuffled between Triple-A and MLB, posting a 4.74 ERA with 17 strikeouts and 15 walks across 19 innings for the Rockies before landing on the injured list.

Landyn Vidourek, 22, had a .170 batting average with six home runs and a .643 on-base plus slugging (OPS) across 256 plate appearances for Single-A Ontario this season, striking out almost 39% of the time. The Dodgers selected him in the third round of the 2025 Draft.

Nick Frasso has a 3.90 ERA over five minor league seasons, including a 4.98 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP across 121 innings in Triple-A. The 27-year-old was a fourth-round pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2020 and joined the Dodgers alongside Moises Brito in a 2022 trade for Mitch White and Alex De Jesus.
