Tottenham Seeks Sport Psychologists for Team

Tottenham Hotspur is actively searching for a lead psychologist for their men's first team, following a challenging season that has seen them slip into the Premier League's bottom three. After a dismal run of 15 league games without a win, manager Roberto de Zerbi emphasized the need for a shift in mentality among the players, stating that his role is to instill the "right mentality" within the squad.

De Zerbi, who became Tottenham's third head coach of the season at the end of March, has only managed to secure one point from his first two games in charge. In response to the team's struggles, the club has taken proactive steps to support the coaching staff and players. An advertisement posted on LinkedIn indicates that Spurs are looking for an "outstanding performance psychologist" who can provide "evidence-based psychological support to elite players."

The responsibilities of this role include offering individual support to players, collaborating with coaching and performance staff, and fostering a psychologically informed performance culture throughout the team. The ideal candidate must be credible, discreet, and highly effective in a Premier League environment, capable of building trust with both players and coaches while maintaining the professional rigor expected at the highest level of the game.

In addition to the men's team, Tottenham is also seeking a sport psychologist for its women's team, highlighting the club's commitment to mental health and performance across all levels. Currently, Spurs sit 18th in the Premier League standings, just two points away from safety, with only five games remaining in the season. The team has struggled significantly at home, failing to secure a league victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since December 6, when they defeated Brentford.

Defender Micky van de Ven recently expressed the mental toll of the team's poor form, admitting that it has been "mentally tough" for the players, who have been "suffering" through this difficult period. The last time Tottenham celebrated a Premier League win was on December 28 against Crystal Palace, and the urgency for change is palpable as they look to turn their fortunes around before the season concludes.
