Black Stars Team Focuses on Restoring Ghana's Pride

The Black Stars technical team aimed to restore Ghana’s pride during the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as reported by Roger De Sá. The newly assembled technical staff, led by veteran coach Carlos Queiroz, was confirmed after the dismissal of Otto Addo in March, following consecutive defeats to Austria and Germany in international friendlies.

Ghana found themselves drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia for the tournament scheduled to take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In an interview on the Beyond The Whistle podcast, De Sá emphasized the importance of hard work and unity within the team as they intensified their preparations. “We are here to do our best and make Ghanaians happy. If Carlos does his job, there is none better than him,” the South African coach remarked.

De Sá expressed optimism about the team's potential, noting, “We will pick our targets as they come. If our players play to their abilities, we have a realistic chance to progress.”

To enhance their readiness, the Black Stars plan to engage in friendly matches, including a game against Mexico on May 22 and another against Wales on June 2. Ghana will kick off their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field in Toronto, followed by a match against England at the Boston Stadium on June 23. They will conclude their Group L fixtures against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on June 27.

After exiting at the group stage in both the 2014 and 2022 editions, the Black Stars are determined to turn the page and mount a stronger challenge in 2026.
