Golden Eaglets Depart for China Youth Football Tournament

The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, five-time world champions, departed for China on Thursday night to participate in the four-nation China International Youth Football Tournament, scheduled to take place in Yinchuan from July 5 to July 11, 2026. The tournament, hosted by the Chinese Football Association and the Ningxia Hul Autonomous Region Administration of Sport, along with the Yinchuan Municipal People’s Government, is organized by the Ningxia Football Association in partnership with the Yinchuan Sports Bureau, and promoted by the China Football Industry Development Corporation.

The Nigerian team consists of 20 players, coached by Uwejamomere Eboboritse, with assistants Kalli Mohammed Kachalla and Abdullahi Isa. In addition to Nigeria, the other teams in the tournament include hosts China, Australia, and Tanzania, with matches scheduled to take place at the Yinchuan Sports Centre Helanshan Stadium.

This tournament serves as preparation for the Golden Eaglets as they build up for the WAFU B U17 Championship, a qualifying tournament for the next year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations, which is set to occur in September.
