Transfer news: Arsenal pursues Guimaraes, Liverpool eyes Akliouche

Arsenal has stepped up its pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes, the Newcastle captain, after missing out on another major target, Morgan Rogers, who completed his record move to Chelsea. The Premier League champions aimed to strengthen their midfield and are poised to test Newcastle’s resolve, with the Magpies holding out for a fee similar to Sandro Tonali’s potential £100m move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Meanwhile, Manchester United reportedly remained interested in adding another midfielder after signing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, and they were said to be in talks with AS Roma for France international Manu Kone.
