Yorkshire secured their first win of the 2026 Vitality Blast as they triumphed over Somerset by 11 runs at Headingley. The match featured an impressive fourth-wicket partnership of 167 between Lauren Winfield-Hill and Sterre Kalis, setting a new world record for the highest fourth-wicket partnership in women's T20 cricket.
Yorkshire posted a total of 210 for 4, with Winfield-Hill achieving a personal best of 99 runs off 55 balls, while Kalis remained unbeaten on 84 runs from 50 deliveries. This total represented the highest score of the tournament so far. In response, Somerset managed to score 199 for 5, with Anika Learoyd scoring an outstanding 103 not out off just 49 balls, despite ultimately falling short.
The match began with Yorkshire losing three early wickets, with the team at just 18 runs. However, Winfield-Hill and Kalis steadied the innings, and their partnership led Yorkshire to recover and reach a formidable total. Winfield-Hill brought up her fifty off 31 balls and Kalis followed suit with hers off 33 balls. Their aggressive batting put Somerset under pressure as they hit a combined total of 34 boundaries during their partnership.
Somerset, chasing 211, started well but lost key players at crucial moments. Learoyd's fifty came quickly but was not enough to steer her team to victory. Yorkshire's Sarah Glenn bowled excellently, taking 2 wickets for 30 runs in her four overs.
The defeat marked Somerset's fourth loss in nine games, having missed out on the opportunity to keep their Finals Day hopes alive. Yorkshire, having priorly lost seven out of their last eight games, celebrated their return to form with this victory.
