The event, reported by the Daily Mail, turned the spotlight on Devine after it revealed that he had previously used the same tactic to secure a trophy for his team in a championship decider.

In this thrilling encounter, Devine's team, Pudsey St Lawrence, had to secure a convincing victory against their arch-rivals Pudsey Congs in a crucial 50-over match on the final day of the season to clinch the Bradford Premier League second tier title in 2023. This match held particular significance as it was Devine's last game for the club, and he aimed to exit on a high note.

The final showdown unfolded at the Amber Cars Britannia ground, where Pudsey St Lawrence triumphed with a resounding eight-wicket victory, allowing Devine to proudly lift the championship trophy. However, newly surfaced footage, live-streamed at the time, has raised suspicions regarding the legitimacy of the match outcome.

The video reveals multiple instances of Devine attempting to mislead umpires with his finger-clicking routine, coinciding with key wickets falling. Three opposing batsmen were adjudged out under similar circumstances, as they faced deliveries that narrowly missed their bats, only to be caught by the wicketkeeper. Devine's finger-clicking was strategically executed to mimic the sound of a ball striking a bat, leading to confusion among the match officials.

Earlier this week, the Daily Mail disclosed that Devine had been engaging in this tactic for at least five years during his tenure with Pudsey St Lawrence. The latest developments have provoked demands for an inquiry into the club's 2023 title win, with rival team members advocating for the Bradford Premier League to launch a formal investigation, citing the potential implications of Devine's tactics over the years.

One rival player expressed concern that Devine’s actions have unfairly affected match outcomes and opportunities for young players: "Our lads have been looking back at surviving film and score books and we have come to the conclusion that he's been at it for years. Young players will have lost opportunities because of this, match results will have undoubtedly been affected, and there is a good case for now stripping Pudsey St Lawrence of its 2023 title."

Devine, characterized as a fiercely competitive captain, has also recently faced suspension from his current club, Saltburn CC, due to allegations of misusing his finger-clicking technique to deceive umpires in another match.
