AmaZulu's Johnson Out for Six Months Due to Injury

AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has confirmed that first-choice goalkeeper Darren Johnson will be sidelined for nearly six months due to injury. Johnson, who joined Usuthu at the beginning of the season, quickly established himself as the team's number one shot-stopper, making 21 appearances across all competitions and recording nine clean sheets.

Zwane expressed his concern over the situation, stating, "Darren unfortunately is gonna be out for some time. He’s gonna be out for probably six months, at most." This injury comes at a challenging time for AmaZulu, who have already faced difficulties with recurring goalkeeper injuries this season, forcing the team to rotate through all their first-team shot-stoppers.

The injury opens the door for Olwethu Mzimela to step in as the starting goalkeeper. Zwane acknowledged the challenges ahead, saying, "We’re probably the only team that has used all its goalkeepers this season. Should anything happen to Olwethu, we have Ofori, but then we would have no backup. We would have to rely on the DDC goalkeepers. The question is, are they ready for top-flight football?"

Zwane emphasized the need for the team to adapt to unforeseen circumstances, stating, "These are unforeseen circumstances and you don’t have to complain.
