Suns' Booker and Brooks Criticize Referees After Loss

In a heated post-game interview, Phoenix Suns stars Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks did not hold back their criticism of the officiating following their 120-107 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 2 of the playoffs. The defeat puts the defending champion Thunder ahead 2-0 in the series, and both players voiced their concerns about the impact of the referees on the game.

Booker, who has been in the league for 11 years, specifically called out referee James Williams, stating, "He was terrible tonight through and through. It's bad for the sport, bad for the integrity of the sport. People are going to start viewing this as a WWE if they're not held responsible." His frustration was compounded by a technical foul called against him late in the third quarter, which he felt was unwarranted.

Dillon Brooks echoed Booker's sentiments, expressing his displeasure with the calls that seemed to favor Thunder's MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Brooks noted, "I got to be smarter about it, but this is the playoffs. It's a man's game. I don't get why all the dropping and the falling and the flopping and the flailing and all this stuff is allowed when we get to the playoffs. This is about who's the better team. Don't decide the games on no free throws."

Gilgeous-Alexander had a standout performance, scoring a game-high 37 points, and he brushed off Brooks' comments, stating, "I can't control what Dillon or anybody else on the other side is going to complain about. All I can do is try to go out there and win basketball games for my team."

The game was marked by physical play, and Brooks noted that the intensity of playoff basketball should not be marred by questionable officiating. He remarked, "When I was out of the playoffs or I've been in the playoffs, it's straight physical basketball. You got to score the basketball to win or get stops to win. Not this flailing and going to the line and stoppage of play. Got to fix that."

Booker, aware of the potential repercussions of his comments, stated, "Whatever I get fined for it, everybody can pull the clips and see where the frustration is from."
