Ogunmodede Outlines Vision for Kano Pillars' Return to Glory

Daniel Ogunmodede, the newly appointed Technical Adviser for Kano Pillars, set a clear agenda during his official unveiling on July 12, 2026, asserting that winning every competition would define his project at the club. Known as IJABALL, Ogunmodede emphasized that the club's renewed focus on success transcended merely playing attractive football.

In addressing journalists at the Kano Pillars Secretariat, he stated, "We are not just going to play football; we want to win. No doubt about it. We can't win all games, but we will win every game as it comes."

Ogunmodede, who previously managed Remo Stars, outlined a comprehensive plan that includes establishing a world-class youth development system aimed at nurturing future stars. "Secondly, the goal is to organise and structure a world-standard academy, ranging from Under-12 to Under-19. Thereby, we will create and maintain a solid identity that will be recognisable in the country and around the world," he explained.

He underscored that success is non-negotiable for Kano Pillars, revealing that the team will approach every competition with a mindset geared towards genuine title contention. "And lastly, like I said, to win. Winning is not negotiable in this project. We want to win. I can promise you we are going to contest the Federation Cup, the league, the CAF Confederation Cup, and the Champions League. We are going to compete in all competitions. In doing this, our communication skills must be strong."

The 46-year-old coach also committed to fostering an atmosphere conducive to collaboration, explaining that every stakeholder would have a chance to contribute ideas for improving the club. "No one is an island of knowledge. I’m not unapproachable. I love to be advised. I love to be talked to. I hate autocracy. I love deliberations. If you have an idea that can help Kano Pillars, and if you can’t talk to the Chairman, you can talk to me."

Kano Pillars entrusted Ogunmodede with the challenge of restoring their stature as one of Nigeria's top football clubs after several difficult seasons. The Sai Masu Gida last claimed the NPFL title in 2014, following victories in the 2007/08, 2012, and 2013 seasons. His appointment represents a new chapter for the club as they seek to return to previous glory and build a foundation for sustained success on and off the field.
