Jay Silva, a two-time UFC veteran, passed away at the age of 45. Silva's death was reported via social media by Fame MMA, the last organization where he competed, on Monday. The cause of death remains unknown.
Fame MMA expressed its condolences, stating, "With great sadness, we inform about the death of FAME fighter Jay Silva. Jay brought a big smile, positive emotions, and the professionalism of a true athlete. He will forever remain a part of the history of our federation!"
Jay Silva's mixed martial arts career began in 2008, during which he participated in 27 professional fights, finishing with a record of 12 wins, 14 losses, and 1 draw. He fought in the UFC from 2009 to 2010, losing two unanimous decisions against C.B. Dollaway and Chris Leben. Silva, known as "Da Spyda Killa," also competed for Bellator MMA and challenged for the middleweight title in KSW. After his time in the UFC, he faced notable fighters including Hector Lombard, Kendall Grove, Sam Alvey, and Mariusz Pudzianowski.
Silva's last fight occurred under the Fame MMA promotion on April 5, 2025, where he lost to Denis Labryga by unanimous decision.
KSW also paid tribute to Silva in a separate social media post on Monday, offering condolences to his family and friends, stating, "The whole KSW Team would like to send condolences to the family and friends of late former KSW fighter and middleweight title challenger, Jay Silva. Rest in peace."
