The Junior Springboks returned to South Africa on Monday after their victory over France, marking the retention of the Junior World Championship title in Georgia on Saturday. The triumphant team and management received congratulations from Mr. Mark Alexander, president of the South African Rugby Union, following their 16-5 win.

Mr. Alexander expressed pride in the Junior Springboks for their achievement, noting that they had successfully defended the title won in Italy in 2025 against New Zealand with a score of 23-15. "The South African Rugby Union proudly salutes the Junior Springboks on their historic achievement in securing back-to-back World Rugby Under 20 Championship titles," stated Mr. Alexander. He emphasized that such consecutive victories underscored the potential of a new generation prepared to maintain the Springbok legacy.

He stated, "The Junior Boks have inspired our nation, reminding us that discipline, unity, and belief can overcome any challenge." As he extended heartfelt congratulations to the players, coaches, and management on behalf of SA Rugby, he also acknowledged the supporters, both locally and internationally, for their unwavering encouragement.

Mr. Alexander highlighted the unprecedented success enjoyed by SA Rugby at all levels. He noted that the Springboks have won consecutive Rugby World Cups, the Blitzboks reclaimed the World Rugby Sevens Series championship, and now the Junior Boks have achieved back-to-back world titles. "These victories reflect the depth of our structures, the excellence of our coaching, and the resilience of our players," he remarked.

He concluded that this collective success belongs to South Africa and reinforces their commitment to maintaining high standards of rugby governance and performance. The next senior men’s national rugby team match is set for 8 August against Argentina in Buenos Aires.
