Paul Onuachu, a forward for Trabzonspor, won the Turkish Süper Lig Goal of the Season award. He secured the accolade for his spectacular scissor-kick finish during Trabzonspor’s 4-2 victory over Fatih Karagümrük last September. This remarkable strike was previously celebrated as the Turkish Süper Lig’s Goal of the Month for September. Despite being known for his towering stature, Onuachu exhibited exceptional agility, connecting with the ball in mid-air to produce an acrobatic finish that garnered significant praise across Turkey.
Onuachu outperformed other notable players, including Fenerbahçe midfielder Marco Asensio and Beşiktaş’s Orkun Kökçü, to clinch the individual honor.
The Nigeria international experienced a sensational debut season with Trabzonspor after transferring from Southampton, a club in the Sky Bet Championship, last summer. He finished the 2025/26 Turkish Süper Lig as a joint-top scorer, netting 22 goals, and shared the Golden Boot award with İstanbul Başakşehir forward Eldor Shomurodov. This achievement made Onuachu only the sixth player in Trabzonspor’s history to conclude a season as the league's leading scorer, solidifying his legacy within the club's history.
Onuachu recorded a total of 26 goals and two assists over 43 appearances across all competitions, underscoring his crucial role in the team’s overall success. His impressive scoring record was instrumental in Trabzonspor’s noteworthy campaign.
Trabzonspor successfully concluded an excellent season by winning the Turkish Cup for the 10th consecutive time, defeating Konyaspor 2-1 in an exhilarating final. In that match, Onuachu was the standout player, scoring both goals that led the Black Sea Storm to victory and further asserted his significance to the team. Fellow Nigerians Chibuike Nwaiwu and Anthony Nwakaeme also contributed to Trabzonspor’s successful squad, celebrating the club's historic triumph.
