Beaumont shines as Blaze, Hampshire, and Warwickshire win

In the Women’s One-Day Cup, England opener Tammy Beaumont showcased her talent by scoring an unbeaten 99, leading The Blaze to a six-wicket victory over Somerset. The match, held at the Maer Ground in Exmouth, allowed Beaumont to achieve her highest score of the season, falling just short of a century, helping her team maintain their top spot in the table. Beaumont hit 12 fours and a six off 109 balls, contributing to a crucial 131-run partnership for the third wicket with Georgia Elwiss, who scored 72 off 76 balls. The Blaze chased down Somerset’s target of 224, finishing with 10.5 overs remaining.

Somerset, batting first, managed to recover from a shaky start at 33-3, with Anika Learoyd providing a solid innings of 97 off 118 balls, posting a total of 222-9. Notably, Charley Phillips and Kirstie Gordon each took two wickets for The Blaze, helping secure the victory.

Meanwhile, Hampshire, last year's finalists, maintained their position in the table as the second-placed team, securing a 16-run win over Yorkshire in a rain-affected match. Hampshire set a target of 213 after scoring 205-7 in 38 overs, with Francesca Sweet notably achieving her first half-century of 50 runs. Ella McCaughan top-scored with 51, and Amanda-Jade Wellington was not out on 41. In response, despite Yorkshire's Lauren Winfield-Hill scoring 35 and Sterre Kalis contributing 46, the team only reached 196-8 and suffered their fourth defeat in seven matches.

Warwickshire, who defeated Lancashire by four wickets in a match shortened to 42 overs due to rain, climbed to fourth place. Chasing a target of 227, Charis Pavely scored the highest of the match with 63 runs, followed by Mary Taylor and Nat Wraith, who led a crucial partnership that secured the win with nine balls to spare. Warwickshire finished their innings at 230-6, whilst Lancashire managed 226-9 with contributions from Ellie Threlkeld and Maddie Penna. The results left Lancashire struggling near the bottom of the table.

With five consecutive wins, The Blaze continues to dominate, while Hampshire and Warwickshire also proved their mettle in the latest round of matches.
