Australian prop Johnson-Holmes joins Harlequins

Harry Johnson-Holmes has joined Harlequins as an Australian prop for the 2026-27 season. The 29-year-old earned his sole Test cap for Australia against South Africa in Johannesburg in July 2019. Johnson-Holmes arrives in London after playing in Super Rugby with the New South Wales Waratahs and Western Force.

In his statement on the club website, Johnson-Holmes expressed his excitement about joining Harlequins, saying, "I'm incredibly excited to be joining Harlequins for the upcoming season." He highlighted his previous experience working with head coach Jason Gilmore, noting, "Having worked with Jason before, I've seen first-hand the impact he has on a playing group, and I can't wait to work with him again."

Johnson-Holmes and Gilmore have a history together from their four years at Waratahs, where Gilmore served as an assistant coach and defence coach, with a brief stint as interim head coach.

Gilmore praised Johnson-Holmes, stating, "Harry is an experienced operator who brings quality and versatility to our front row." He emphasized Johnson-Holmes's ability to play on both sides of the scrum, which provides valuable flexibility and depth to the team's lineup. Gilmore also noted that Johnson-Holmes's Super Rugby experience will undoubtedly enhance Harlequins’ squad.
