On September 11, two preliminary round matches of the CAF Champions League took place. In Benin, Enugu Rangers qualified after a second draw against Sobemap, while APR FC triumphed over the Aigles du Congo in Rwanda.
In Lomé, Sobemap and Enugu Rangers ended their match in a 1-1 draw, the same result as their earlier contest held a few days prior in Nigeria. Sobemap opened the scoring, only for Enugu Rangers to equalize. After this stalemate, the teams proceeded to a penalty shootout, where Enugu Rangers prevailed 5-4, thus securing their spot in the next preliminary round.
Meanwhile, in Kigali, APR FC secured a 3-0 victory against the Aigles du Congo. After losing 1-0 in the first leg held in Lubumbashi, the Rwandan side overturned the tie with a 3-1 aggregate score over the two matches. Consequently, the Aigles du Congo were eliminated in this first preliminary round.
