Dortmund wins as Freiburg tops after Gladbach rout

Borussia Dortmund continued their perfect start in the Bundesliga with a 3-0 home victory against newly promoted Paderborn. Felix Nmecha scored twice, while Fábio Silva netted another to secure the win, marking Dortmund’s third successive victory, their best start in 11 seasons. Silva's goal came early in the match, just five minutes in, after he received a clever pass from Serhou Guirassy. Although Guirassy had two goals disallowed for offside, Dortmund was rarely troubled by the visitors, who are yet to score this season.

Nmecha came off the bench and capped off the game with a spectacular late bicycle kick. After making his return from an ankle injury, Dortmund's captain Nico Schlotterbeck expressed his relief at being back on the pitch, saying he had kept his comeback low-profile until now.

Freiburg surged to the top of the table after thrashing Borussia Mönchengladbach 5-0. Yannik Engelhardt and Igor Matanovic each scored twice, while Maximilian Eggestein added a late fifth, leading Gladbach, who finished with 10 men, to the bottom of the league.

Augsburg, who had started the season on a high note being top of the table for the first time in their history, lost that position after drawing 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen, despite Michael Gregoritsch scoring both goals for Augsburg.

In other results, Eintracht Frankfurt earned their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Mainz, aided by a double from Can Uzun. Goalkeeper Noah Atubolu preserved his remarkable penalty-saving record for Frankfurt, defending a first-half penalty from Nadiem Amiri, marking his sixth consecutive save in the Bundesliga.

West Ham loanee Niclas Füllkrug scored the equalizer for Werder Bremen in their 1-1 draw with Cologne. Füllkrug’s goal was his third in four Bundesliga matches since returning from his loan.

In Spain, Kylian Mbappé starred for Real Madrid, netting twice in a 4-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano. Goals from Álvaro Carreras and Jude Bellingham rounded off a comfortable win for the team.

Milan drew 2-2 with Lazio in Rome after trailing by two goals. Diego Moreira came off the bench to score both equalizers for Milan, helping them retain their position at the top of the Serie A standings while extending Lazio's early season form.
