Mokwena Maintains Perfect Start at Pyramids FC

Rulani Mokwena's Pyramids FC continued their 100% start record in the Egyptian Premier League after beating El Gouna 1-0 on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Mokwena joined the Egyptian giants in the off-season and has had a perfect start to his life in Egypt so far.

The defending 2024/25 CAF Champions League winners achieved yet another victory and managed to keep a clean sheet. The only goal of the match occurred in the 56th minute, resulting from an own goal by Khaled Ahmed. Pyramids had the opportunity to extend their lead when Nasser Maher missed a penalty kick in the 72nd minute.

Mostafa Ziko thought he had scored Pyramids' second goal in the 90th minute, but it was disallowed following a VAR review. The win allowed Pyramids to reclaim the top of the league table, now sitting at 12 points from four games, a two-point lead ahead of Zamalek.
