Tottenham Faces Crisis After Defeat to Aston Villa

He specifically referenced the second goal conceded, which resulted from a long clearance by the opposing goalkeeper, pointing out it was 'unacceptable' to allow a goal from such a routine play.

De Zerbi emphasized the need for a more compact defense and for leaders on the team to step up and guide their colleagues. He directly called out players by name, expressing his dissatisfaction with Mateus (Fernandes) and Dominic Solanke, both crucial summer signings. He stated, "I did not like Mateus’s performance today. We need more from him."

The international break might provide a much-needed pause for the team, albeit De Zerbi will lose some players to their national teams. He urged the remaining squad members, including Maddison, Gallagher, Solanke, Tosin, Senesi, and Savio, to increase their efforts, citing concerns about their physical condition during the match.

After the final whistle, De Zerbi left the pitch without acknowledging the fans and reportedly did not speak to his players in the dressing room, highlighting the tense atmosphere following the game.
