The Nigeria U15 boys, known as the Future Eagles, defeated Cyprus 2-1 on Monday morning, securing their place in the group stage of the FIFA U15 World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan, with an unbeaten record.

In the match against Cyprus, Wisdom Oche scored the first goal for Nigeria, followed by captain Timothy Ogar Ijachi, who, despite a knock sustained during a previous 3-3 draw with The Gambia, netted Nigeria’s winning goal.

Later on Monday afternoon, Nigeria played against Pakistan, resulting in a 1-1 draw. Ijachi again had a significant impact by scoring the equalizer for Nigeria in the 25th minute, just after Pakistan had taken the lead at the start of the second half.

With FIFA adopting a no-elimination format for this inaugural competition, the Future Eagles are set to learn which tier they will participate in next, as they continue their chase for honors at the tournament.
